On this day I actualy met someone on the Radnor Forest. A
Stourbridge school were doing Dof E training up there. Its a modest
quiet range, famed for its surrounding countryside more than
for its heights.
The purpose of the visit, other than yet another trip to my
local hills was to see if Bache Hill was over 2000'. The height
on the OS maps refers to the trig point which is on the tumulus.
If cairns don't count, which they don't on my list, then Bache
joins the Forest's most famous top, Whimble Tout ,as just below
2000'.
I did a horseshoe from Cascob rather than the usual New Radnor
approach.
Dec2001.
A quick ascent from New Radnor on the
usual Harley Dingle circuit, over both the 2000' tops. Light
snow on top and very cold. A pint in the Harp (Old Radnor) was
very welcome afterwards. |
