Beacon Hill, the summit.

Showing friends around a favourite hill on a hot day.

Picnicing and wimberry picking, my family have gathered berries here for generations. Beacon Hill was as wild and quiet as always. Easier now I dont have to walk in from Llanbister or Llangynllo stations. Not long ago a great aunt in her 90s told me of berry trips up here by train. She was thrilled to bits to hear that we still do it now.

I have been up Beacon Hill many times, even managed a ski trip once before dashing back down for a niece's christening. The heather makes the skiing laborious, but its worth it.
