The summit with the fine view down Loch Ness.

Beinn a'Bhacaidh from Loch Tarff. The ascent route followed the grassy re-entrant that is highlighted by the snow in the centre of the picture.

Loch Ness and Meall Fuar-mhonaidh seen from the summit.

Burach and the shores of Loch Tarff.

This was going to be a rest day, so Bhacaidh and a small hill in Strath Nairn seemed a good idea while travelling up to Inverness. Unfortunately a lost (and later found) wallet messed up all plans. Still got the hills though. The other event of the day was the 2-1 win for Shrewsbury Town over Everton. Mixed feelings for a Hereford supporter for whom Shrewsbury are the fount of all evil, but what a result! Congratulations are in order.

The weather remained fine and with the sky and bracken, even the Hill was decked out in Shrewsbury colours. I had long suspected that this hill packed a view and I was not disappointed. The hill rises sharply from Loch Ness, above the striking Horseshoe Crag, so the summit gives a close view of the whole length of the Loch. The view extends to the Loch Linnhe hills in the opposite direction and you also get to look up Glen Garry. The Affric/Cannich Hills are not too distant either. Pick a clear day.

The ascent was rough but not difficult, but there are a few false summits.
