CarnGlas Choire on a bitter day of thawing snow.
The summit . Someone is interested in wind speeds on the southern slopes of Carn Glas-choire.
Another wind farm on the way?
Map: Carn Glas-choire Hard going in melting snow. Cover was not continuous enough for skiing so wading through peat hags was required.
The hill is the highest point of both Nairnshire and a vast area of moss at the eastern end of the Monadh Liath. All was quiet on this rather unpleasant winter's day but I am sure there is a big wader population here in the summer.
I went up from just north of Auchterteang, crossing a curious moor being reclaimed by seeded scots pines. Unfortunately some numpty has set about them with a chainsaw, but I hope the trees win out in the end. Creag na h-Iolaire at teh east end of the hill is a rough place with some good melt water features.
I really should have waited for continuous cover, this is a hill for skis.
