 ride on crock
Crock is infamous for being well defended by forestry. This ride up the north ridge is a known way through (NO228641)

 forestry work, Crock
But there are constant changes and this nearby block on the north ridge is being felled.

Crock Summit

Hare Cairn is not so well defended, but is still dominated by forestry. The moorland summit area.

 Hare Cairn Summit view

Two of the forestry dominated hills above Glen Isla. Crock has a bad reputation for inaccessability, but a ride up the north ridge gets to the moorland summit without difficulty. Any other route, you are on your own, but the forest is always changing, and felled areas can appear over night given modern forestry technology.

Hare Cairn is friendlier with more open woodland. Like Crock, the summit is clear of the trees and is still moorland. The two are easily linked by a road running down to Glenmarkie Lodge. There is accommodation available at the nearby farm which operates as a B&B.
