Sron Smeur 511m. Rannoch, Section 4

29th May 2000
Baggers Album->Scotland->4b->Smeur

Sron Smeur from near the Road to the Isles.

Sron Smeur was added to a day on the nearby Corbett, Beinn Pharlagian. This is the summit of Pharlagain with Lawers and Schiehallion in the background.

Loch Sron Smeur , on the edge of Rannoch Moor. Taken on the way up.

 The Summit, strewn with large granite boulders. Something nasty is about to turn up.
 At the foot of the hill, Loch Eigeach and the Glen Lyon Munro, Garbh Mheall (Beinn Bhuidhe)

Handy for trips from Rannoch Station, or tagging on to the Eigeach Horseshoe, this small hill owes its status to a glacial overflow channel. The gap is sometimes used as a shortcut to Ben Alder, but is very boggy.

Some regeneration work is taking place on the birk woods on the hill, the fencing is easily avoided.
