Beinn Achaladair 1038m. Bridge of Orchy, Section 2a
OS 1:50 000 Sheet50 : NN344432

14th January 2001
Baggers Album->Scotland->2a->Achaladair

View north, past the cairn from the summit. Loch Ericht fills a trench beyond Rannoch Moor.

 View across Rannoch Moor, to Ben Nevis and the Lochaber Hills.

 The Ben, The Moor and, centre, the wee bump of Meall Mor. This hill overlooks the Rannoch Rowan.

The A82 can be seen curving up its climb on to Rannoch Moor.

 Beinn an Dothaidh, from Coire Daingean, below Beinn Achaladair.

 The view of Beinn Dorain that the calendars do not show. The blunt northern side.

 Looking south to Crianlarich across Mamlorn. Beinn a'Chaisteal is the prominent peak in the middle distance.

 Looking back from the cairn towards the summit. No footprints visited the true summit. Are we in a post Munro bagging era?

Another cracking day, spent recovering from the big day on the Buachaille. I was short of time, as my lift was leaving at 4pm, so I had only enough time to pop up Beinn Achaladair. It was worth it.

I was last up here in 1982, and met noone on a summer weekend, a bit different now. Funnily enough, there were many prints in the snow, but nobody visited the small buried summit cairn. The big cairn at the ridge's end was the magnet. Munro bagging standards must have slipped.
