Minch Moor from the Minchmoor track above Traquair
The Minchmoor road leaving Traquair. And climbing towards the forest and distant Minch Moor Summit.
Map: Minch Moor A hill made famous as a drove road, and no doubt older still as a ridgeway. A well surfaced track passes closeby to the north of the summit, a short boggy detour away.
A good hill for the cyclist, the ascent is not so claustrophobic now due to the forest being cleared away from the track. Tree pipits sing in the new clearings, and the summit is a heathery dome above the woodlands. Shame that it poured down when we were up there.
There is a Southern Upland Way car park at Traquair.
