15th July 2000
Baggers Album ->Scotland->28b->Andrewhinney

Andrewhinney Hill from the south.

The summit of Bodesbeck Law, looking northeastward towards Andrewhinney Hill.

From just below the summit: Loch Skeen and The Grey Mare's Tail, across Moffatdale.

And looking back the other way from the forgotten Donald of Mid Rig. Andrewhinney is the dark hill beyond the loch.

 From Hermans Law: St Mary's Loch and Loch of the Lowes.

Circular sheep fank, deep in Hogg country. On the descent from Andrewhinney, back down to Ettrickdale.

The big ridge between Ettrick And Moffatdale carries the Selkirk/Dumfriesshire border fence over several tops. Here is a big day for the Donald bagger, and many do the lot from Hermans Law round to Ettrick Pen.

Andrewwhinney has two distict sides, a brutal drop to Moffatdale, a quick way up for the monomaniac Grahamist, and a series of ridges hiding sheep filled glens dropping the short distance to high Ettrick Dale. The summit is further from the road,but the ascent required is very small. The true way is to follow that march fence.

And dont forget to wander a wee bit down the hill to get the best view of the Grey Mare's Tail.
