Cairnapple Hill 312m. West Lothian, Section 28a

5th March 2000
Baggers Album ->Scotland->28a->Cairnapple

The 4500 year old henge on the North top.

 Knock Hill. About the same height as the trig point.The 'Cairn' is a Toposcope.

 The summit, looking northward towards the henge top.

 Wet mossy ground, looking over towards Knock Hill.

Possibly Scotland's easiest 'tick', this is the highest hill in West Lothian, (and the lowest of Scotland's County tops). A favourite place to burn out cars, a short joyride from both the M9 and M8.

Its true claim to fame is the henge and cairn on the lower North top. Some 4800 years old, it is one of the most important archeolgical sites of its age.
