 Summit

The cairn hides in gloomy spruce. This will soon be felled.

Woodhead Hill overtops Marthrown Hill (trig) in Mabie Forest, just outside Dumfries. Once a notorious arborial struggle, it has been tamed by mountain bikers who like to impale themselves on sitka sprags up here. This is a fine hill for the daredevil single track downhill merchant.

The ascent was aided by using an old orienteering map.
