Scotland's
southernmost hill, and like all coastal hills a good viewpoint.
The weather
was foul, but I got a good view over the Urr estuary and a glimpse
of St Bees Head in Cumberland. The Lakes were blotted out.
The hill is
well defended by electric fences and forestry. The traditional
ascent from near the Bengairn Loch is recommended. It feels a
lot higher than 391m. It looks bigger inb views as well, and
often causes confusion when seen from the Lakes or other Galloway
Hills. You dont expect such a sharp peak' there'. |
