The westernmost Donald , and the pinkie of the Awful Hand. Shalloch on Minnoch is one of the easiest of the Corbetts, a road goes over halfway up.

But, there is another side, beyond the trees. Central Galloway, a vast saucer of granite full of boulder and bog. From here the hill rises in a rocky sweep of corrie. Added value is the deleted Corbett Kirriereoch Hill , and the rocky lochan pocked ridge of Tarfessock.

The granite has eroded down to form the palm, but the metamorphic aureole knuckles remain proud of the bog and gives a fine ridge walk. The effort required, to go around the back is a sound investement.
