The famed
centrepiece of The Trossachs, Wattie Scott and all that. Venue
is a rough hill, feels like it belongs further west, not your
usual Perthshire Pudding. The glaciers dug deep here, leaving
a very craggy landscape.
Unfortunately
the main route up from what was the Achray Hotel is a heinous
bogtrot, the forestry have built a lovely path through the trees
but once you get to the open hill, you are on your own. Happilly
the devestation was hidden by the snow, but when descending by
this route, it was always a surprise to see just how far in I
would go.
There are two
main summits and a further grouping to the south around Beinn
Bhreac. The eastern top carries a stone built trig and a big
view towards Stirling. The rather more anonomous true summit
is better for the hill views. |
