Another wet day. This pair
are excedingly wet and rough , and considering their proximity
to mass tourism are surprisingly unfrequented. Mind you probably
would only want to vist once. Mass tourism makes its presence
felt though, thanks to the ceaseless whine of lazy people's engines
on the loch.
There is a named top, Binnien
nan Gobhar on Beinn Bhreac. Looks like this applies to another
knoll than the summit, as this top appears as a sharp peaklet
from certain angles. There is a third knoll, carrying a rotting
trigpoint.
The hill is rough as it has
been fenced off from grazing animals and has been planted with
native trees. There are no access problems other than the long
grass, the fences have been dismantled. Will be interesting to
see how this forest develops.
Beinn Uird gives easier going,
just, but I prefer the trees. A long haul brings the dry summit
plateau underfoot, totally dominated by Ben Lomond. Too far back
however to see the loch well, but you will get that view descending
the forest road back to Cashel where there is plenty of parking.
