Sgurr na h-Iolaire. The southern scarp.

The loop road to the West coast of Sleat. Is this the most beautiful road in Scotland?(this is a dull bit) |

An evening walk after a soaking on Glamaig. One of the moorland tops on the Sleat Peninsula. Dull to look at from afar, but utterly charming under your feet. Like the Scalpay hills of the following day, its a high moor dotted with lochans. There is also the small matter of the view. Knoydart or a choice of three Cuillins. The loop road round Tarkavaig and Ord on the west coast is the obvious starting point and is a worthy objective in its own right. Dodging cows and and crossing beaches backed by hazel woods are normal features of this road. |
