The famed, but rather neglected Trotternish Ridge.
This walk was the southern half, leaving the ridge a mile
north of Sgurr a'Mhadaidh Ruadh. I hope to go back and finish
the ridge , travelling northward beyond the Quirang.
The map is not too accurate with the contours here and some
of the drops may be bigger than shown. Baggers should be alert
to the possibilty of promotions here.
The basalt hills are covered in herb rich turf, easy going
contrasting with the miles of sheer crag and landslip to the
east. The view over the Old Man and the Storr Lochs towards the
Torridon Hills is not easily forgotten.
Some of the best hill walking, anywhere. |
