A large mass of moorland above Brora on the east coast of
Sutherland gives terrain quite different to the usual images
of the county's hills. Beinn Uarie and Beinn Dhorain show a fine
face to Glen Loth, but the rest of the range is bog and reindeer
moss. There are two 150m separated hills, either side of wild
Glen Sletdale. Carn Garbh is probably little frequented other
than for sporting purposes, but Dhorain is probabl;y a popular
day out for the locals. The short steep climb is very rewarding
with far ranging coastal views.
A visit to Glen Sletdale is more rewarding than the usual
quickie ascent from the Glen Loth road. |
