Ideal for breaking a journey north and a quick stroll from
the elbow on the notorious Ord of Caithness road. Its a good
viewpoint for the Caithness hills as well as giving a fine view
of the Moray Firth and Cairngorms.
I was lucky in that there was a prolonged dry spell in progress
and was able to completye a dry foot ascent in trainers. Judging
by the vegetation this is probably unusual.
The trig is not the summit, higher if not drier ground can
be found a few hundred metres along a fence, away from the collections
of masts that are scattered about.
As there are other hills about with similar heights, the marilyn
summit could well move in future. |
