Carn Loch nan Amhaichean from Strathrannoch.

Beinn a'Chaisteil and a granite erratic , as seen on the ascent.
 Strathrannoch and Sgurr Mor (Fannichs).

Another view on the way up: The unjustly dismissed Am Faochagach.

And from near the summit, Meal Mor and Beinn nan Eun(bulky, left) . These hills hide away above Loch Glass behind Ben Wyvis.

Two summit views: 1) Beinn a Chaisteil's usually hidden, east face.

And 2) Strath Rannoch and the Fannichs.

A retiring hill from that lost world of bog north of Ben Wyvis. This one is easy to get to with a good track,(skiable on this occasion) running in to the isolated dwelling of Strathrannoch. From here its a quick bogtrot to the easier going on the summit dome.

Soft snow made the going hard, but the weather more than made up for it. Lots of unusual views from this obscure corner of the Highlands.

If staying near here it is worth noting that the Aultguish is now a friendly place to stay and is probably the cheapest( and best value!) hotel in Scotland.
