A break in the good weather.
While the west continued to enjoy the sunshine, a weak warm front
inroduced enough moisture to the Northeast to clag the day up.
It snowed at the top and drizzled in Cannich.
Its probably better to walk
up through the forest from Strathfarrar, but there was the gate
to deal with. I went up from the bridge just outside Cannich
on the Beaulay Road. A track links two gates through forestry
fences and out on to the sodden moor above.
A good hill for the day, poor
visibility and a heavy cold.
The summits are interesting.
The East top at 675m has a large quartzite erratic on it. Question
is: is the spot height as shown on the 1:25000 map and on the
plateau, or did the OS include the rock? If the former then this
is effectively a twin summit. Clambering on to the block was
fun with all the rime.
