Map: Carn Fiaclach

A small and rough hill set in the forests of Glen Affric. The hill is covered in old pine trees and this makes it a very enjoyable ascent. Only the summit is clear, and even here there are straggly scotspines amongst the boulders that give the name to the hill (toothed cairn),

The snow was melting fast, so the going was hard not least because of the fallen dead wood under the snow. This did not matter as no time in a caledonian pine forest is wasted.

The World Orienteering Championships were held on the slopes of Carn Fiachlach in 1999.
