Meall Sgumain from the Bealach na Sroine path

The falls of Glomach at the head of a very wild gorge. The best approach to the hill.(Jan 2001)

Glomach

A bump above the Falls of Glomach. Hardly noticed except as the wall of the gorge. Easy approach from Kintail, over a very good path from Dorusduain where there is a FC car park. Note a local goml tries to mislead you into parking miles away - ignore the signs, you can park at NG977222 in the forest, and the road to this point is public.

The falls are the big draw, I came this way for Carnan Cruithneachd, and the longer Glen Elchaig approach is worth using too. The two hills can of course be done together.

The only obstacle in the ascent is the river crossing. Pick a dryish spell for this one. It is a big river and must often be uncrossable. 130m of waterfall just down stream can concentrate the mind.

The summit view is dominated by Glen Elchaig in one direction and Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan's complicated side in the other.
