The summit.

The icy path that is mainly used by the Tom a'Choinich/Toll Creagach mobs. Beyond, a misty Glen Affric.

Map: Beinn a'Mheadhoin

The name is better known as the loch beneath it, Loch Beinn a'Mheadhoin, the centre piece of all those calendar shots. The hill is simply lost beneath its rather large neighbours, the highest hills north of the Great Glen. Many scurry past outward and stagger back beneath the weight of a long hill day. Few go up for the very good view of the Mam Sodhail range.

Some maps now show the height as 613m, but I am waiting for that to appear on a 1:25 000 sheet before promoting from its famous place as the lowest Graham here.

A great hill for a short winter's day, although by now the snow was settling and the big hills were merely difficult, not impossible. Some recommend it as a summer evening hill. A longer day would be a good idea, if only to take in some of the forests in Glen Affric.
