In Memory of all those who died in plane crashes here. 1939-1969

In memory of the airmen who died on this hill, both in 1939-1945 and since. South Shropshire is a major air training area. Many of the casualties were training. This memorial lies just above the saddle between Abdon and Clee Burfs.

Abdon Burf from Clee Burf.

Summit

The summit of Abdon Burf, and of Shropshire. The true summit is behind, and north of the telecom masts. The trigpoint is on top of a rapidly eroding pile of coal mine waste. The higher top is a remnant of old mine and quarry workings and appears to be about 1 or 2 metres higher.
