Looking west , over the summit furniture.

The summit, from the car park. Are you prepared for your journey?

The eastward view across the downs. Salisbury is out there somewhere...

It appears that the summit is in the wood. It had recently been decorated.

Isn't Wessex brilliant!

At the top of the famous Zig Zag hill and over looking all sorts of West Country goodies, this hill is compulsory for all who have read and enjoyed the works of Thomas Hardy. So what if it's just inside Wiltshire.

Readers of the works of Joe Simpson will however be disappointed, this hill has a car park adjacent to the summit, and is arguably the easiest English Marilyn. Cycle up it if you have a conscience.

We just visited it on the way south to Purbeck, and found it a lovely place. It was just like that other top knotted hill, May Hill, a place with a very good feel about it. Perhaps that is what attracted the folk who decorated the summit.

A bonus is that the top is very easily accessed by wheelchairs, with a RADAR key.

It even has a celebrity goml on the southern slopes.
