Unfairly slated by many guidebook writers, Great Mell Fell is rather a good hill on account of the old woodlands on it. Unfortunately they are heavily grazed and there is little regeneration, but they are still a fine place in which to spend an hour or two. A sunny evening ascent after a wet weekend in Scotland. Unusually for the lake District I saw noone up there. |
