Between the narrow breach of the Southern Uplands, made by the Nith, and the high Lowther Hills, Cairn Hill is isolated enough to provide a fine view point. The hill is traversed by a corpse road leading to Kirkbride, but there is little trace on the ground. A wilder approach can be made from the Mennock Pass to the north. The hill was visited after Rob Woodall's 1000the Marilyn party on Cairnkinna Hill. |
