A big wall of moorgrass shelters Dentdale from northerlies, the hill is a simple whaleback divided up by walls running up from Garsdale and Dentdale. Despite its reputation, it is possible to traverse the hill without having to climb any walls, but there is a bit of a maze near the summit due to electric fences. The trick is to stay on the Garsdale side where there are fewer walls and all have holes or gates. The full round returning through Dentdale is a good day with very fine and varied views. |
