Looking across Talley at Mynydd Cynros

The ruins of Talley Abbey, the parish church from the dissolution until the 18th Century.

On the hill, looking northward to Mynydd Mallaen.

 The summit.

The summit plateau. Most of the hill is moorland. A ruin hereabouts was once the farm that reclaimed these fields.

A more benign and peaceful hill is hard to imagine. It is the steep southern side of the Talley Valley with the abbey and two lakes. There is even a pub that does good teas.

There was once a farm on the summit, the access road is now a well signed footpath. The forest is not all coniferous and there is much to see in the natural woodland higher up the hill. Like a lot of hills in Wales and the border counties it is crowned with a clump of trees. Were these old navigation markers for drovers etc. Farm more visible than a cairn or currick.

This was a Mayday visit in wonderful weather after a day on the Pembrooke coast path.
