A more benign and peaceful hill is hard to imagine. It is
the steep southern side of the Talley Valley with the abbey and
two lakes. There is even a pub that does good teas.
There was once a farm on the summit, the access road is now
a well signed footpath. The forest is not all coniferous and
there is much to see in the natural woodland higher up the hill.
Like a lot of hills in Wales and the border counties it is crowned
with a clump of trees. Were these old navigation markers for
drovers etc. Farm more visible than a cairn or currick.
This was a Mayday visit in wonderful weather after a day on
the Pembrooke coast path. |
