One of the most famous of English
hills. Can you see the Blackpool Tower? There is some doubt about the height, 803m probably refers to the giant cairn. If this is so, Swirl How, the centre of the Coniston Range, gets the Marilyn. Most do both together, but on this visit we legged it down the delightful grassy south ridge to Torver and Consiton Water. Unfortunately, staying at Coppermines meant a climb back up at the day's end. |
