The distant Black Coombe from Wallowbarrow Crag, Duddon. The sharp peak is the much nearer Stickle Pike.

The summit, looking North up the Cumberland coast.

Famed as Harry Griffin's first hill and as the one Wainwright forgot, almost 2000' Black Coombe is a bold end to the Cumbrian Mountains.

Whilst it is grassy and smooth on most sides, the eastern coves are worth a look if seeking something a little more rocky.

Oh its also a great wimberry hill, one to climb at the end of July.
