The Trig, not quite the summit. The Black Mountains in the background.

Looing Northward over Hanter Hill towards Radnor Forest.

These cairns of boulders were made in the 1939-1945 war, when the hill was turned over to arable farming. It was very productive land. Now its back to moorland.

  Maps: Hergest Ridge

Hergest Ridge (pronounced Hargest) has spawned an album title and carries a long distance footpath. It once was the site of a racecourse, and is now topped by monkey puzzle trees. These should, by local tradition, be Scots Pines.

The best parts of the hill have been pinched by the Welsh, a good pub in Glasbury and the rocky hill of Hanter Hill and the pine and oak woods of Worsell Wood.

Those wishing to climb Old Radnor Hill to the north are too late. Its been completely quarried away.
